Camilo's Picks:

The achievement in film-making is truly obvious this year. Whether or not the Academy will agree is yet to be determined. Who SHOULD WIN: MOULIN ROUGE. The brilliance that makes this movie, the choreography, the modern songs in theater style, the passionate love story, the spectacle, the in your face over the top direction, the fact that it works perfectly make this my choice for Best Picture.

Who WILL Win: A BEAUTIFUL MIND. It really is a mystery which movie will win this year, there are some strong contenders and they have their groups of support. I am not sure if any one movie has as many fans in the Academy as that of Moulin Rouge, but if the other films spilt up a minority of the votes there is a remote posibility of a Moulin Rouge upset, similiar to how Shakespeare in Love did it at the Oscars in 1999. There is a realy good chance Lord of the Rings will win here as well, but I am placing my bet on A Beautiful Mind when it comes to the Academy voters.

Joe's Picks:

Who SHOULD WIN: A BEAUTFIUL MIND.

Who WILL Win: THE LORD OF THE RINGS.

Ryan's Picks:

Who SHOULD WIN: IN THE BEDROOM.

Who WILL Win: A BEAUTIFUL MIND.

So there you have it, the CurrentlyPlaying.com Third Annual Reviewer's Oscar Predictions. This year there is not a consensus amongst our panel. Camilo and Ryan feel the award will end up going to A Beautiful Mind and Joe thinks it will go to The Lord of the Rings. We will see how right or wrong we were on Sunday, March 24th, 2002.
